I byrjinga av 1980-talet var amerikanske GeoSource engasjert av den kinesiske stat for å driva geofysisk kartleggjing i Qaidam-bassenget med mål å finna geologiske formasjonar som kunne innehalda olje eller gass. Eg jobba som administrator og tolk ved forsyningsbasen i Lenghu, Qinghai. Her jobba også andre som eg har halde kontakt med sidan den tid. I desember 2019 reiste tre av oss tilbake til Qinghai på jakt etter vår felles arbeidsplass for nesten førti år sidan. Turen blei dokumentert av dottera til den eine av oss, som vist på filmen nedanfor.

In the beginning of the 1980s the US company GeoSource was engaged by the Chinese goverment to do geophysical mapping and exploration in the Qaidam basin with the aim to find geological structures that might contain oil or gas. I worked as an administrator and interpreter at the supply base in Lenghu, Qinghai. Some of my colleagues from that time I have kept in contact with since then. In December 2019 three of us traveled back to Qinghai in search of our common place of work nearly four decades ago; documented by the daughter of one of us, as shown on the film below
